Identity and history
Upon invitation of Château Giscours, Bordeaux – Labrède Cricket club has its home-ground since 2007 on the former polo pitch of the chateau. The name of Bordeaux Giscours Cricket Club was then adopted. In 2014, the Bordeaux Giscours CC counted some thirty members representing almost ten nationalities. Initially traders and professionals of the wine trade with British origins formed the core of the club. To date the members of the club still form a melting pot from different origins.
The sporting ambition of the club is to develop the practice of cricket in Bordeaux and Gironde. The season 2014 was a great vintage, from the 34 matches played, 31 were won by Giscours!
The other objective is to convey the image of chateau Giscours through this chic and, in France, unusual sport. The property hosts regularly «Touring sides “, itinerant clubs with often a great history and a prestigious tradition.
BGCC went to play at Windsor castle in the presence of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The club then hosted the Royal Household Cricket Club in Giscours for the return match.
A cricket match combines very well with a visit of the property and a picnic with friends or family. The members will be most pleased to explain the rules and welcome you around the barbecue and the clubhouse. Please come and visit us!
